  • 3 apples (for compote), peeled and chopped
  • 2 apples (for topping), thinly sliced
  • 20 g sugar

Instructions

  1. Make the pâte sucrée: Mix flour, powdered sugar, and salt; rub in cold butter until crumbly. Add egg, mix until a dough forms, wrap, and chill for 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the apple compote: Melt butter in a saucepan; add apples and sugar, cooking until soft (about 10 minutes). Optionally stir in vanilla or cinnamon.
  3. Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface into a circle about 3 mm thick; transfer to a tart pan.
  4. Spread the cooled apple compote over the pastry base and arrange thinly sliced apples on top.
  5. Brush with melted butter and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
