  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup liquid glucose/light corn syrup
  • few drops black gel food coloring
  • 6 Granny Smith apples

Instructions

  1. Grease a piece of baking paper and place it on a tray.
  2. Skewer each apple with bamboo skewers for easy dipping.
  3. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine sugar, water, corn syrup, and black food coloring over medium heat.
  4. Stir until the sugar dissolves; then stop stirring and wash down the sides with a wet brush.
  5. Cook until reaching hard crack stage (150ºC/310ºF).
  6. Dip each apple into the caramel mixture until evenly coated.
  7. Place dipped apples on the prepared baking sheet to cool.
