  • 330 g self raising flour
  • 360 g granulated sugar
  • 360 g butter
  • 6 eggs
  • 30 g unsweetened black cocoa powder
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 90 ml milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 400 g butter (salted)
  • 800 g powdered sugar (icing sugar)
  • 1¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp milk (optional)
  • Electric green food coloring (a few drops)
  • 250 g orange fondant
  • 200 g black fondant
  • 1 tbsp CMC powder
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and line baking trays with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together self-raising flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream together granulated sugar and butter until fluffy. Add eggs one by one, mixing well after each addition followed by vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually combine dry mixture with wet ingredients while alternating with milk; mix until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into prepared trays and bake for about 50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. For buttercream, beat salted butter with powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth; add milk if needed and color with food coloring.
  7. Once cooled, layer crumbled cake and buttercream in jars, topping with sprinkles and fondant decorations.
